GPR SURVEY OF POTENTIAL KIMBERLITE PIPES (REPUBLIC OF ZIMBABWE)
1 – direction and length of the profile in m 2 – rocks overlying the pipe 3 – rocks hosting the pipe 4 –potential kimberlite body identified as per GPR data 5 – recommended verification well as per GPR data
GPR surveys were performed for the profile presumably crossing the kimberlite pipe according to geological data. The main purpose of GPR survey: to identify a kimberlite pipe on the prospective site. Equipment: Loza-N GPR with a 21 kV transmitter, length of transmitting and receiving antennae – 10 m (central frequency = 15 MHz). Measurement interval – 50 cm. As a result of GPR profiling, a potential kimberlite pipe was identified and a location for verification drilling was recommended. The drilling confirmed the presence of a kimberlite pipe.
